HOW TO MAKE FRIENDS AS AN ADULT/LIFE UPDATE

Hi fam, its time for a life update!

Since graduation, I have moved back home to Houston for work while all of my college friends headed to their hometown of Dallas to work. It has been a struggle to gain friends as an adult but I am happy to say this past week I had an amazing opportunity to get to meet an incredible group of women who I think I will become great friends with! So without further ado, I have a few tips to help a girl out if you have been struggling too.

Many people need help making friends when moving to a new city. As a kid, it is easier because you attend school. As an adult, we go to work but that doesn’t mean you will find your new BFF at work. As an adult, you have to try harder.

TIP 1: GET INVOLVED

This is the easiest way to meet new people that can potentially become your greatest friend is by getting involved. You need to join groups or do some sort of activity that is with a group of people. Here is a list of few ideas…

  1. Community/FB Groups
  2. Church Groups
  3. Gym/Workout Classes
  4. Alumna Chapters (School & Sorority)

I have recently joined a FB group that was put together by one of my FAVORITE bloggers Dani Austin! Within this group, we formed a Houston group so we could all meet up and become friends! It was kind of odd to say you’re going to dinner with 15 strangers but honestly, it was the most fun I have had in a long time and I cannot wait to hang out with them again.

TIP 2: SMALL TALK

If group settings aren’t your thing, then I suggest when you are at your favorite places you frequently visit, start up some small talk with the people around you. These places could be…

  1. Coffee shops
  2. Church
  3. Shopping
  4. Gym
  5. Restaurants

Making friends at a place you frequently visit is a huge plus because you know they will always be down to grab coffee/shop or whatever it is yall share in common.

TIP 3: BE VULNERABLE

The key to meeting new people and making friends is to be vulnerable! You have to get out of your comfort zone and reach out to people.

I am so glad I was able to be apart of my fav bloggers FB group and got to meet some amazing women who are girl bosses, bloggers, entrepreneurs, and everything in between! Together we are women supporting women in #THESASSYCLUB  of Houston!

If you are struggling to gain true friends I hope these tips will help you! Now go out there and gain some besties!

Love Always,

Alex
