Hi fam, it’s been a minute. It’s time for a life update.
I haven’t written anything in quite a while because life has taken a turn in my household.
Recently my mother has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The dreaded C-word.
Being a sorority member of Zeta Tau Alpha, (our philanthropy is Breast Cancer education & awareness) my college career was spent devoting time to helping those affected, and spreading knowledge of early detection. We held countless events, education sessions, and drives to help others. All of this was great, but none of this could have helped prepare me for my mother’s news.
This news hit my family with quite a shock, but we are very blessed that this was caught early and she will make a full recovery. My mother is a very strong woman, let’s be real all moms are. Her radiation starts soon and I simply ask for prayers for her to make a fast and full recovery. Some people aren’t that lucky to have early detection. I thank God we did and pray for those who didn’t.
Someday we will have a cure, but for now, all we have is prayer and support from each other. I will keep yall updated in my upcoming posts.
