This October I got to get the travel bug out of me and visit Boston MA! So without further ado, here are my travel tips!
Where We Stayed
We stayed in this super cute Airbnb located in the BackBay area at it was the perfect location with the perfect price. Some other hotels we looked into staying at was the Envoy, Yodel, Revere, and The Colonnade.
Things to Do on a Trip to Boston
Visit an Apple Orchard
Apple orchards are a great place to visit when in New England, especially if you’re from the south and don’t have access to them regularly.
We visited Honey Pot Hill Orchard in Stow MA and had such a great time! This cute little farm had it all. From Apple picking to pear picking, hayrides, the country store, and fresh apple cider donuts. They were amazing!
Pro Tip: If you are traveling without a vehicle and are relying on Ubers, be sure to schedule an Uber to pick you up since the orchard is in a small town. We gave ourselves 3 hours and it was the perfect amount of time to explore Honey Pot.
Other Things To Do/Visit:
- Freedom Trail
- Boston Common/Garden
- Harvard
- Fenway Park
Shopping
If you’re looking to get some shopping in, Newbury street is perfect for that! It’s all of your favorite retailers on one street. It was super cold for me when I went, so I ended up purchasing a corduroy coat from H&M. It is currently out of stock, but I will update you all once it is available.
Salem
You guys when traveling to Boston in October you HAVE to visit Salem!! On the first Thursday of October, they kick off the Halloween season with a town parade.
Getting to Boston was pretty easy via train and I felt like such a local while on it. It was quite simple, all we did was download the app to purchase our commuter ticket and headed down to the North Station. The best part is that the train station in Salem was walking distance away from the main town square so hopping in and out of Uber’s aren’t necessary.
Where to Eat in Boston
Eating out is always a struggle when you have Celiacs Disease or a food allergy, but Boston was surprisingly accommodating as all of the restaurants we visited had gluten-free options.
-
The Friendly Toast -Local favorite breakfast/brunch place
-
The Barking Crab -Local favorite known for their lobster + great views of the harbor
-
Lookout -rooftop bar (Envoy Hotel Across from The Barking Crab)
-
Tatte Bakery & Cafe -Boston’s version of Starbucks (they had so many GF pastries)
-
Bleacher Bar -Restaurant that looks into Fenway Park
-
Giacomo’s Italian restaurant -2 Locations: Little Italy & Back Bay (cash only)
